Thursday, May 1

New Street Gallery is hosting a new weekly film series called Cinemama!
Go and check out some greats for free, and don't be stingy on the donations.
We need events like this around town, so please help them stay alive. Go ahead - Venture Out. More info below...

THIS THURSDAY, MAY 1, 8PM at the New Street Gallery:
City Lights (Charlie Chaplin, 1931 / 87 minutes, Silent BW)

Often cited as Chaplin's best movie as well as one of the best movies of all time, City Lights is a tender love story between the Tramp and a blind girl (Virginia Cherrill). As with all of Chaplin's films, there is no shortage of slapstick humor and perfect comedic timing here. But the real brilliance of the movie is how emotionally relevant and resonant it still is today. A perfect blend of the tragic and the comic unique only to Chaplin, it slowly builds into one of the most memorable endings in cinematic history.
